About
Born in New York but having lived almost his whole life in Australia, Daniel Brammall’s been a financial adviser his entire working life.
His introduction to the harsh world of the finance industry was at the tender age of 22 where he, as a university graduate, earned his stripes pounding the pavement selling life insurance door-to-door.
Jaded by insurance company sales tactics but passionate about working with people planning their future, in 2007 Daniel established Brocktons Independent Advisory, one of the first truly independent financial planning advisory boutiques in the country (www.brocktons.com.au).
This attracted a lot of media interest at the time for its totally new, no-conflicts-of-interest approach, where a financial advisor genuinely sits on the same side of the table as the client.
Inspired by a thirst for knowledge and the heartfelt desire to be part of a profession he could be proud of, in 2009 he founded the Profession of Independent Financial Advisers (www.pifa.org.au) which promotes 'The Gold Standard of Independence'TM.
In 2014 Daniel established Independent Financial Advisers Australia (www.ifa-aust.com.au), the first national training and supervision organisation for financial advisers who want to provide genuinely independent advice.
Having accumulated a rich bank of experience over more than three decades in financial advice, Daniel was ascribed the moniker ‘The Father of Independent Financial Planning’. Despite this he says
"The older I get, the more I realise how little I really know."
Today he spends much of his time advocating for a recognised profession in financial planning, coaching financial advisers on delivering conflict-free advice, and appears regularly in mainstream television and print media.
Two mantras guide his work ethic:
As a professional adviser – "My value is measured by the value I create for others.”
As a 3rd degree black belt instructor – “You’re only as good as your last training session.”
